Vaporetto Line 13 Venice: Northern Lagoon Line to Vignole, Sant’Erasmo and Treporti

In brief: Vaporetto line 13 connects Fondamente Nove with the small islands of the northern lagoon: Murano (Faro) → Vignole → Sant’Erasmo → Treporti. The line is an insider tip for travellers who want to discover the quiet lagoon gardens and natural islands away from the Murano–Burano tourist routes. Full run about 50 minutes, included in the regular ACTV fare (€9.50 single ride, 24-hr pass €25).

Why line 13 is special

While line 12 serves the tourist highlights Murano–Burano–Torcello, line 13 heads north of them to the less visited islands: Vignole (a small island with family trattorias), Sant’Erasmo (“Venice’s vegetable garden”, famous for its violet artichokes) and ends in Treporti on the eastern edge of the lagoon. If you want to see authentic lagoon farming, fishing structures and slow-food producers, this is your line.

Stops in detail

Fondamente Nove

Starting point — the main feeder pier for all northern-lagoon lines. Several piers; line 13 departs from the eastern one.

Murano Faro

North-eastern Murano pier near the lighthouse. Connections to the other island lines here.

Vignole

A very small island with the Trattoria al Forno — popular with locals for Sunday lunch by the water.

Sant’Erasmo (Capannone, Chiesa, Punta Vela)

Three piers on the largest garden island. Known for slow-food artichokes (harvest April–June) and small farm shops with direct sales. Rent bicycles at the Capannone pier.

Treporti

Terminus at the mainland transition to Cavallino-Treporti. From here continue by bus or with line 12 to Punta Sabbioni.

Frequently asked questions about line 13

What can I do on Sant’Erasmo?

How often does line 13 run?

Every 60 to 90 minutes during the day — far less often than line 12. Check the timetable before setting off, otherwise expect long waits.

Line 13 or rather line 12?

If you only want the tourist highlights (Murano, Burano, Torcello): line 12. If you want to experience the quiet, authentic lagoon: line 13 with Sant’Erasmo as the main destination.
