Hyatt Centric Murano Venice
In short: The Hyatt Centric Murano Venice is a 4-star boutique hotel in a former glass furnace right on a canal of the island of Murano — 119 rooms and suites in ten categories (including 31 duplex suites), modern Murano design with hand-made glass lamps, its own restaurant and currently a free boat shuttle to Marco Polo Airport and into Venice’s old town (conditions vary by season; have them confirmed at check-in). That makes it one of the few hotels from which you can visit Venice almost as a commuter — without staying in the crowds of the historic centre.

Location: island of Murano, right on the canal
The Hyatt Centric stands on Murano — the traditional glassblowers’ island in the northern lagoon of Venice. Murano is much quieter than the historic old town, with an atmosphere of its own made up of glass workshops, canals, brick architecture and only about 5,000 residents. The hotel stands directly on one of the main canals (Riva Longa) — many rooms have a canal view and are only a few steps from the Fondamenta dei Vetrai.
The location means: by day the full Venice programme (St Mark’s reachable in 20 minutes by vaporetto), in the evening calm and an authentic island experience instead of tourist noise. Anyone who wants to avoid sleeping in the old town’s crowds without being far away makes a very good choice here. → More about Murano as a destination.
Architecture: a former glass furnace
The building is the first Murano glass factory to be converted into a hotel. The original fabric can be felt inside — brick walls, high ceilings, industrial accents in the lobby. Over it lies a modern boutique-hotel design: warm chocolate and beige tones, oversized mirrors, individually made wallpapers and above all hand-made Murano glass lamps as the light fittings in every room. The design concept is a direct homage to the island and its 700-year tradition of glass art.
Rooms and suites
119 rooms and suites are spread over ten categories — from the compact boutique room to the two-storey junior suite with its own staircase. The main options:
- Standard and Superior rooms — modern boutique furnishing, quiet position facing the courtyard or with a canal view
- Premium canal-view rooms — a view straight onto Murano’s main canal
- Duplex suites (junior suite) — over two floors, living area downstairs with a sofa (convertible into two single beds), sleeping loft with a king bed upstairs, reached by an industrial metal staircase
- Riva Suite — can be connected to a duplex suite via a private lift into a two-floor family unit
- Premium suites (2 units) — the top category, with particularly generous layouts
Standard in all rooms: air conditioning, free WiFi, smart TV, minibar, Murano glass decoration and luxuriously equipped bathrooms (often with a walk-in shower).
Restaurant and bar
The hotel’s own restaurant focuses on regional Venetian cuisine — Adriatic fish, home-made pasta, cicchetti-style antipasti, plus an extensive wine list of Veneto and Friuli wines. Breakfast is a buffet with live stations. By day there are light lunches and cocktails at the bar with Murano-glass accents. Directly in front of the hotel on the fondamenta there are also several typical trattorias — anyone wanting a change from the hotel restaurant has options.
Wellness and fitness
The wellness offer is deliberately compact: a sauna, a steam bath and a treatment room for massages and beauty treatments (to be booked on request). Anyone looking for a spa hotel in the classic sense, with a large thalasso area and several pools, is not in the right place here — see, for instance, the Almar Jesolo with its 2,000 m² spa. The gym, on the other hand, is generous and open around the clock.
The decisive USP: a currently free boat shuttle
The Hyatt Centric Murano currently offers a free boat shuttle on two routes — conditions are seasonal and should be confirmed at check-in:
- Hotel ↔ Marco Polo Airport (VCE) — a direct water transfer without changing to a vaporetto, ideal on arrival and departure with luggage (advance notice of at least 24 h recommended)
- Hotel ↔ Venice old town — landing point near St Mark’s / Fondamente Nove (regularly at peak times, otherwise on demand)
That makes the Hyatt one of the few hotels in the lagoon from which you can visit Venice almost as a commuter — without having to stay in the tourist stream of the historic centre, without having to budget vaporetto tickets for the hotel–city transfer, and without lugging luggage on arrival and departure. Anyone who mainly wants to visit Venice by day and looks for calm in the evening benefits enormously from this logistics. Note: frequencies and conditions may be adjusted by the hotel seasonally — always have timetables confirmed at reception on the day of use.
The Murano island experience on the doorstep
Murano is not just a place to sleep but a destination in its own right — a few minutes from the hotel:
- Murano Glass Museum (~500 m, detail page) — the complete history of Murano glass art from Roman antiquity to today
- Basilica di Santa Maria e San Donato (~400 m) — one of the oldest churches in the lagoon, with 12th-century Byzantine mosaics
- Fondamenta dei Vetrai (~300 m) — Murano’s main street with traditional glass workshops and glassblowing demonstrations
- Glassblowing workshops — at several glassworks you can make a small piece yourself (souvenir character), advance booking recommended
- Burano (vaporetto line 12, ~30 min) — the brightly painted houses of the lace-making island
- Torcello (vaporetto line 9 from Burano, ~10 min) — the quietest lagoon island with the Byzantine cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
Who the Hyatt Centric Murano suits best
| Traveller type | Fit |
|---|---|
| Venice commuters (day trips into the old town) | ★★★★★ — boat shuttle (currently free), no tourist stress when sleeping, island calm in the evening |
| Culture and design enthusiasts | ★★★★★ — glass museum + basilica + glassblowers’ workshops on the doorstep, hotel architecture as a bonus |
| Couples / romance / boutique lovers | ★★★★★ — canal-view rooms, Murano glass design, island atmosphere instead of mass tourism |
| Honeymoons / special occasions | ★★★★☆ — duplex or premium suites, unique location, but 4-star level (not 5-star luxury) |
| Families with teenagers | ★★★★☆ — duplex suites as a family unit, lots of independence for teenagers on the island |
| Families with small children | ★★★☆☆ — the hotel is family-friendly, but no pool, no beach, no entertainment programme |
| Wellness travellers (spa as the main purpose) | ★★☆☆☆ — only sauna + steam bath, no large spa; for a spa focus rather the Almar Jesolo |
| Beach holidaymakers / classic seaside holiday | ★☆☆☆☆ — no private beach, no pool; beach hotels are on the Adriatic (Jesolo, Bibione, Lignano) |
| Party holidaymakers / club nightlife | ★☆☆☆☆ — Murano gets very quiet in the evening, no nightlife |
| Backpackers / budget travellers | ★☆☆☆☆ — clearly in the upper price segment, not a fit |
Board basis — which option to choose?
- Breakfast only (BB) — recommended for Venice commuters who eat in the old town in the evening or in one of the Murano trattorias right on the canal
- Half board (HB) — good if you are out for long during the day and want to eat comfortably in the hotel restaurant in the evening
- Full board (FB) — rarely chosen; Murano has many good restaurants within walking distance, so flexibility pays off here

Frequently asked questions about the Hyatt Centric Murano Venice
How does the boat shuttle work, and is it really free?
At present the Hyatt shuttle runs free of charge between the hotel, Marco Polo Airport and landing points in the historic centre of Venice. Conditions can change seasonally — so we recommend confirming timetables and the current tariff at reception on the day you use it. For the hotel ↔ airport route, advance notice makes sense (at least 24 h). To the old town the shuttle runs at fixed peak times — you get the exact departure times at check-in.
How far is the Hyatt from St Mark’s Square?
Is there a beach or pool at the Hyatt Centric Murano?
No. Murano is an island of canals but has no sand or bathing beach, and the hotel has no pool. If you want to combine a beach holiday, choose a hotel on the Lido di Venezia (same lagoon, with a beach) or on the Adriatic coast (Jesolo, Bibione) — see Adriatic beaches compared.
Is the Hyatt family-friendly?
Yes, the hotel welcomes families and offers duplex suites that work as a family unit (sofa downstairs convertible into two single beds, sleeping loft upstairs). There is no entertainment programme, no children’s pool and no kids’ club, though — the hotel is a boutique city hotel, not a classic family resort.
What distinguishes the Hyatt from the Almar Jesolo?
A completely different travel idea: the Hyatt is a boutique hotel for experiencing Venice — island location, lots of culture, a boat shuttle to the old town, compact wellness, no beach. The Almar Jesolo is a wellness and beach resort — 5 stars, a 2,000 m² spa, a 70 m outdoor pool, a private beach, much closer to a classic beach holiday. If you want both, combine them: first the Hyatt (city and culture), then the Almar (relaxing by the sea). A third option is the Hilton Molino Stucky on Giudecca — a classic 5-star large hotel, but with a paid shuttle.
Which time of year is best?
For visiting Venice, April–May and September–October are ideal — pleasantly warm, Murano not too crowded. Summer (July/August) gets hot and touristy even on Murano, and hotel prices peak. Winter (Nov–Feb) is the quietest and most atmospheric time, with a risk of acqua alta (no problem for the hotel on Murano, but occasionally relevant for vaporetto connections).
Are pets allowed?
The Hyatt Centric Murano usually accepts small to medium-sized dogs for a fee and on advance notice. As the rules are adjusted every year, we recommend having this clarified in advance via our travel advice.
