In brief: Bibione has the same mild Adriatic climate as the rest of the upper Adriatic coast — warm summers with water temperatures of 24–26 °C in July/August, damp but mild winters. The main season runs from early May to mid-September. The most important weather factor for Bibione is wind: bora storms are rare in high season, but they can ruin a whole beach day. Because of the Tagliamento mouth, a southerly wind combined with a tidal peak can occasionally produce short-lived currents — otherwise the water is very shallow and safe.
Bibione’s 12-month climate — long-term averages
The table is based on the long-term climate normals for 1991–2020 for the Venezia region, which is geographically almost identical to Bibione. The travel score (1–5) takes temperature, rainfall and tourist crowding into account.

Wind and storm warnings
The bora — the most important weather factor in Bibione
The bora is a cold, dry katabatic wind from the north-east that occurs mainly in spring (March/April) and autumn (October/November). It is much rarer in the June–August beach season. In a stronger bora (over 40 km/h):
- Beach umbrellas are folded away
- Sand blows unpleasantly — staying on the beach is difficult
- Open-air concerts and festivals can be postponed — a drama for fans of Antonello Venditti, the Nomadi and others
- Hotel programme: move indoors — Bibione Thermae makes a perfect bad-weather plan
- Crystal-clear views after bora days — the most photogenic moments of the season
The live block above shows the current wind speed in km/h plus a rating (light / moderate / fresh / bora storm). ARPAV usually announces bora phases about 24 hours ahead.
Summer thunderstorms
Adriatic summer storms are short, intense and often hit in the late afternoon (4–7 pm). They discharge quickly and move on after 30–60 minutes. Lead time: ARPAV warnings usually come 4–8 hours ahead (see the live block above). When a storm threatens: leave the beach and go to the hotel or a restaurant.
The Tagliamento mouth — the local peculiarity
Bibione lies right at the mouth of the Tagliamento, one of the largest rivers in northern Italy. During high-water phases in the river, or when a southerly wind coincides with a high Adriatic tide, a strong south-westerly current can briefly build up off the mouth. It is rare, but relevant for swimmers — local beach managers indicate it with beach flags (yellow = caution, red = no swimming). Follow normal beach etiquette.
