When line 10 pays off

Line 10 is the shortest connection between the Lido and Dorsoduro — without the detour via St Mark’s Square or changing between several Lido lines (5.1/5.2 to F.te Nove, 6 to P.le Roma). Above all, guests staying on the Lido who want dinner in Dorsoduro or a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection save about 20 minutes with line 10 compared with the route via San Marco.

In summer (June–September) line 10 runs a reinforced service for beach commuters — from Dorsoduro you reach the Lido beach in 20 minutes by direct vaporetto, instead of the classic 50-minute detour via line 1 or 2 plus a change.

Route and stops

Lido S.M.E. (Santa Maria Elisabetta)

The Lido’s main pier — right on the central square, bus stop for line 11 to Alberoni/Pellestrina, gateway to the film festival grounds (Palazzo del Cinema, about 1 km to the south). Several piers; line 10 departs from one of the western ones.

Lido Casinò (seasonal)

An additional stop during the summer high season and the film festival in early September — right in front of the former casino building on the Lungomare. Not part of the year-round timetable.

San Zaccaria (occasionally, depending on the timetable)

Some trips call at San Zaccaria (eastern St Mark’s); most direct runs skip it and head straight to the Zattere.

Zattere

Terminus in southern Dorsoduro — right on the Canale della Giudecca. From here it is a 5-minute walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, 10 minutes to the Accademia Bridge and the Salute. Connections to line 2 and lines 5.1/5.2 are also possible.

Timetable and frequency

Line 10 runs every 20 to 30 minutes during the day, with a reinforced timetable in the summer high season (June–September) and during the Venice Film Festival (early September). First trip around 7:30 in the morning, last from the Lido around 20:00 — after that, lines 5.1/5.2 or line 1 cover the Lido. In the winter months the timetable may be reduced or the line suspended entirely — current data in the live table embedded above.

Alternatives to line 10

  • If line 10 is not running: line 1 via the Grand Canal (60 min, 12 intermediate stops).
  • For the ring Lido ↔ F.te Nove: lines 5.1/5.2 around Castello (45 min).
  • Fastest Lido link from P.le Roma: line 6 direct in 25 min.
  • Car ferry Tronchetto ↔ Lido: line 17 for travellers with a car.

Frequently asked questions about line 10

Does line 10 run all year?

Not in every year — line 10 has a reinforced summer timetable and is partly suspended or reduced in the winter months. If you depend on it in winter, check the ACTV live data before travelling or fall back on line 1.

What is the difference between line 10 and line 5?

Lines 5.1/5.2 form a ring around Castello (45 min); line 10 is a short direct link Lido ↔ Zattere (20 min). If Dorsoduro is your destination, line 10 is much faster.

Does line 10 stop at St Mark’s Square?

Only some trips call at the San Zaccaria pier; most run directly Lido ↔ Zattere without a St Mark’s stop. For a direct St Mark’s connection from the Lido use lines 1, 5.1, 5.2 or 14.

Is line 10 worth it for a Lido beach day?

Yes — especially for guests staying in Dorsoduro. The round trip to the Lido beach takes under an hour of total travel time, a clear saving over the San Marco detour.
