Combine market and Venice
Cavallino-Treporti has an undeniable USP: if you are staying in Punta Sabbioni, you can visit the weekly market on Tuesday and then cross to Venice on vaporetto line 14 in 35 minutes, landing at Riva degli Schiavoni — a double programme of market plus San Marco in one day. No other Adriatic hub offers this direct public-transport link.
Neighbouring towns on other days
On the days without a Cavallino market a short trip is worthwhile: on Thursday (in parallel with the Ca’ Savio night market) head inland during the day to San Donà di Piave (25 km, 35 min — the biggest Thursday market in the eastern Veneto) or to the big Chioggia market (60 km, 1 h via the Punta Sabbioni–Lido vaporetto + car). On Friday go to Jesolo (10 km, 15 min). On Saturday go to Caorle (50 km, 1 h).
Sant’Erasmo artichokes from the market
From April to June the Cavallino market sells Sant’Erasmo artichokes (violetto di Sant’Erasmo) — a Slow Food-protected speciality from the lagoon island of the same name, opposite Treporti. Small, purple, intense in flavour. In Venice they are expensive at the better markets; here in Cavallino, at the original growing location, they are cheaper and fresher.
